Another storm front hitting the country, the third this month. Strong wind and heavy rain made it a very uncomfortable start to the morning as I had to take the water samples at work. By the time I was finished I was soaked to the skin. So much for the work waterproofs.
The water levels had actually dropped but it was hard to imagine. A group of Whooper swan were hanging around the main lagoon rather than join the vast majority out on the fields. Plenty of Pochard and the Pochard/Ferruginous hybrid was showing well as was a Pochard/Tufted.
A couple of Goldeneye were towards Nelson Lyle and there was a report of a couple of Scaup in the same area.

After yesterday's glorious weather which was warm and still after the storm had passed through, today was again grey and cold.
Decided to walk to Wicken Fen and back, splitting the walk into two for eBird purposes. The walk to Wicken and back and the walk through Wicken Fen.
A good number of Fieldfare and Redwing were feeding on the berries along the drove roads and Blue, Great and Lon-tailed Tit were present throughout. A small bevy of Whooper Swan (19) were on the field near the farm at Cock-up.
